Moorfield supports numerous events at the Wharfedale Festival. This year we were delighted that so many children took part in the prose classes as it takes courage to stand in front of an audience and deliver an extract from a book to a room full of unfamiliar people and be judged for it! Congratulations to everyone who took part.
The following awards were made:
Form 2: 1st William, 2nd Leena
Form 3: 1st Lily, Olive 2nd
Form 4: 1st Heidi, 2nd Jemima, 3rd Hattie
Senior 5: 1st Bella, 2nd Jemima, 3rd Elena
Year 4 and Under Story Writing: 2nd Hope (F2)
Year 4 and under Poetry Writing: 2nd Hope (F2)
Year 5 Poetry Writing: 1st Jackson, 3rd Bella
Year 6 Poetry Writing: 3rd Edward
Our musical entries were also of a very high standard. Strings Group and Band won their classes but we greatly enjoyed a new band recently formed at Burley Oaks who also took part.
The main school choir sang very well in a class with three other schools competing against us. We came second and were ready to admit that we could learn from Wakefield Girls High Junior School who came first. They were astonishing! We are still really proud of our choir which includes every child in the Upper School.
Our extra choir performed in a separate class and sang beautifully. Sadly we had no competitors but were pleased that Wakefield stayed to hear our performance. Well done, extra choir for all the extra work you have done with your singing and your exceptional standard.
