Physical Education at Moorfield School
We aim to foster a lifelong interest in being active and healthy through an enjoyable
but hardworking approach to learning. Creative, artistic and expressive skills are
developed through movement studies of dance and gymnastics.
Sporting activities in the winter months are dominated by netball and hockey alongside
basketball, tag rugby and football. During the summer term activities include rounders,
tennis, athletics, cricket, orienteering and outdoor pursuits. All the children from Reception
to F4 have swimming lessons throughout the year. Competition is encouraged in house matches
and in fixtures against other school teams in netball and rounders from F3 upwards.
Extra curricular activities form a very important part of school life. Our pupils regularly
and successfully compete in cross-country races within the Wharfedale League. Sports Clubs
give further opportunities for development of skills in other games and the chance to work
for BAGA gymnastic awards.
