Geography
Developing geographical skills at Moorfield, your child will gain a greater
awareness of, and respect for, the world and its inhabitants. The geography curriculum is
designed to broaden curiosity, knowledge and understanding of the interdependence of
society and the natural environment.
Pupils gain a sense of responsibility for personal and group actions which impact upon
the sustainable use and management of resources for future generations.
Geocaching
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by
adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers,
called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. A travel bug can be
found in a cache - this is a trackable tag that can be attached to an item. This allows
the bug/item to be tracked on Geocaching.com. The bug/item becomes a hitchhiker that is
carried from cache to cache (or person to person) in the real world and you can follow
its progress online.
Geocaching is a fantastic way to encourage all the family to enjoy being outside.
