Introduction to Early Years' Foundation Stage
Splash in the water... dig in the sandpit ... have a ride in the trolley... bake again today
... go on a season hunt...it’s all happening in Moorfield’s Early Years.
It’s bright, happy and busy and offers a magical introduction to school life. Moorfield’s
beautiful purpose-built accommodation, with a recently extended and improved outdoor
learning area allows all boys and girls to get the most out of every day. A warm, caring
and fun-loving team help everyone to engage in all they do.
Learning to be independent is key as little ones prepare for the years ahead. Both free and
structured play develops a curiosity for learning and an eagerness to be involved in the
world around them. Each boy and girl matures at their own pace and everyone makes
outstanding progress in their development. We teach basic numeracy and literacy
skills and help boys and girls to develop the social and emotional skills that we all
need to communicate and get on with others. French and music are taught by specialists
every week.
At the same time, our pupils begin to develop the good manners and moral values that are
the hallmark of a Moorfield education. ‘Sharing and caring’ becomes an immediate
response when our boys and girls are together.
From the age of two and a half until they leave Reception, the whole learning experience
produces a self-motivated learner with the confidence to give everything a go. They are
fully fledged for the years ahead.
