Music
The music department at Moorfield School is exciting and vibrant. It is very well equipped with Yamaha keyboards and classroom percussion, and has a peripatetic staff of six led by the Director of Music.
Music is taught throughout the age range and incorporates listening, composing and performing at every stage. Recorder and music notation is taught to every child from Form 2 with the aim that many will go on to further instrumental studies.
We offer a wide variety of instruments at Moorfield: violin, clarinet, flute, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, guitar and piano. Players of these intruments form many groups and emsembles, particularly the Irish Band which has been successful in many music festivals and has even been included in the Wharfedale Festival Commemorative CD recording!
Moorfield School has Junior and Senior Choirs which perform frequently in the local community including the Ilkley Bandstand, alongside Cantores Olicanae and at homes for the elderly. Each year, we have many music and drama productions, music concerts and stunning seasonal celebrations.
