Winning Runs from Moorfield Girls

WELL DONE GIRLS, WE’RE REALLY PROUD OF YOU ALL

Pictured above is one of our 2009/2010 Year 6 teams.

Final League placements

(based on 4 out of 5 races, those who had fewer races had lower placings)

What a wonderful year our Runners and Teams have enjoyed!
Everyone from Reception to Y6 have proudly represented Moorfield making a huge effort to run their very best and with many successes!

Our Y6 team leave on a winning streak and will be sadly missed. They have been a credit to the school and will be a tough act to follow!

Special congratulations go to Tassy Heslop who has never missed a race since the league began and was praised for her outstanding efforts at the presentation; our younger girls have an excellent role model to follow.

On a damp and drizzly Saturday morning thirty two of our girls participated in the third race in the Wharfedale Cross Country League at Ben Rhydding School.
There were a number of fine runs and good team performances, including two first places for our senior teams. S5 team doing so with only 27 points! A great team effort!

Tassy Heslop maintained her winning streak in a closely fought contest to the finishing line, whilst Abigail Roche and Freya Hartley both had excellent runs in the Y2 race. Emma Barwick gave a most impressive display of determined running finishing 2nd in her race. What next Emma!

Well done to all our athletes and a big thank you to the numerous parents who supported their daughters throughout the morning (especially to the two dads who had unexpected to run themselves!).

Hope to see you all at the Ashlands race on the 30th of January 2010.

Westville Wharfedale League Cross Country Event - 7 November 2009

Moorfield runners excelled again at the Westville Wharfedale League cross-country event on Saturday, 7 November down at Ilkley Rugby Club. We had a full team (or more) in every age group, which shows the level of enthusiasm among the girls.

In Form 1, Florence was 8th. Other runners who did very well were Amy, Isabella, Claudia, and Kate.

In Form 2, Millie was 3rd. Excellent team support from Abigail, Freya, Olivia, Foely and Libby meant that the Year 2 team came FIRST.

In Form 3, Alice came 4th. Her team with Rose, Harriet and Caitlin meant the Year 3 team came SECOND.

The Year 4 team came THIRD with Emma coming 3rd. In a small year group the team support given by Isobel, Bel and Frankie is specially appreciated.

In Form 5, Laura came 3rd and support from a good team comprising Louisa, Georgia, Anna, Kitty and Emily meant the Year 5 team came FIRST.

Tassy came 1st and the Year 6 team came FIRST thanks to superb supporting runs from Madeleine, Jemima, Tara, Rebecca and Henrietta.

Ghyll Royd Wharfedale League Cross Country Event - 10 October 2009

The first event of the Wharfedale League was held at Ghyll Royd School last Saturday where 33 Moorfield runners took part. The teams had high hopes and they did not disappoint. Not only did the Year 5 and Year 6 teams win but we also had team wins in Years 2 and 3. It promises to be a good season.

Malsis Cross Country Championships - 8 October 2009

Last Thursday the Year 6 girls competed at the 10th Malsis Cross Country and won the girls U11 cup with runs from Tassy 1st, Madeleine 7th, Jemima 17th and Tara 25th.

Bingley Harriers Annual Cross Country Event - 23 September 2009

Moorfield School has had a fantastic start to the cross country season. The Year 6 'A' team has started the season on winning form. They competed and won the U11 girls team prize in the School Cross Country Challenge held in Bingley at the end of September with individual performances from Tassy Heslop 1st, Madeleine Fern 4th, Jemima Elgood 13th and Tara Hunt 17th. The Year 5 girls team also ran well and were rewarded with the 2nd team prize.
