Form 3

Welcome back to Form 3 for the SUMMER TERM!
Hopefully we will be able to enjoy some warm summer days, no more long nights and dark mornings, SO...... NO excuse for weary girls - I’m hoping for sparkly, energetic pupils who are eager to learn and demonstrate their knowledge and skills to the full!
- This term we will be learning all about Egypt, its geography and fascinating past, in our Humanities lessons. I’m sure your interest will be truly ignited by our visit to the Bagshaw Museum in Batley on June 9th where they hold a special education workshop on Mummification – one of you will be mummified! I will need the assistance of one parent so please let me know if your parent would like to join us.
- The main thrust of our writing in English lessons will be characterisation. Girls – please discuss the characters in the books you read to your patents, with them. You should all be using capital letters and full stops correctly now! In addition I expect to see commas in lists, apostrophes where there are missing letters, question marks, exclamation marks and inverted commas in your writing.
- The major part of our maths work will be a topic on telling the time, SO please practise what you already know to impress me when we start work. We will learn the 8 times table, thus completing all tables up to 10 times. Our weekly tests will be revision of all these tables; both multiplication and division, so keep practising them all!
There's so much to look forward to, from Sports Day, house rounders, trips, the school play to swimming lessons in the outside pool! I look forward to seeing you on the 20th April, meanwhile, enjoy your holiday! Happy Easter!
In Science we will be investigating black gold! Without it there would be no life on Earth..... Helping plants grow will be a second topic. Let the annual Form Three lettuce growing competition begin!
