I have arranged for Form 4 to visit Murton Park, near York, on Monday 13th November, 2017. This trip will support our history topics over the next half term as we begin to study what life was like for a Roman soldier. It is an interactive history day where the children will have the opportunity to dress up, cook food, live in a Roman fort and have a go at military training!
As most of the learning is outside or in sheltered workshop areas, the workshop leaders have recommended that children dress in warm, old clothes rather than school uniform, with two or three layers, coat, hat and gloves. It can be very muddy and wet, depending on the weather before or during the trip so good footwear is essential. If we have had a few dry days beforehand, old trainers are fine. Wellingtons are good but children will need extra socks for keeping feet warm; if your child owns a pair of sturdy walking boots, this is even better. It would also be useful if the children have a pair of ordinary shoes or trainers to change into before they get back onto the minibus as these will be comfortable and muddy boots can then go into a named plastic bag. You will also need to provide a rucksack containing a packed lunch and drink.
We will be accompanied by Mr Hartley and we will travel in the school minibus. Children need to be in school for 8.20am as we need to make a prompt start at 8.30am, arriving back at school at the usual time at the end of the day.
The cost of this trip will be £30.00 which will be added to your bill at the end of term.
If you have any questions regarding the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me.
